At the CSA Retiree Welfare Fund, we understand the importance of maintaining good dental health during your retirement years. That’s why we offer you a choice of four different dental plans tailored to meet your needs. Take a moment to discover the options available to you and make an informed decision about your dental coverage.
Option 1: The SIDS Dental Program
With this indemnity plan administered by Self Insured Dental Services (SIDS), you have the freedom to choose any dentist worldwide. We provide you with a list of participating providers who have agreed to accept the reimbursement rates listed in the “Schedule of Allowances.” You can also choose a non-participating dentist, and reimbursement will be based on the Schedule of Allowances. The plan also covers implants and related services up to a maximum of $3,000 in a 36-month period. We’ve recently expanded the SIDS dental program to include discount dental services through the Metrodent and Careington dental networks, giving you even more options and affordability. If you use a SIDS Participating Dentist there is no out-of-pocket cost to you.

Option 2: Healthplex Dental Plan for New York – New Jersey
If you reside in the New York City – New Jersey Metropolitan area, our Healthplex Dental Plan offers comprehensive coverage. This pre-paid dental plan operates similarly to an HMO, where you select a primary care dentist from a wide network of participating Dentcare dentists. Your primary care dentist will provide you and your eligible dependents with complete dental care, with no charge for most services except for a small fee associated with certain specialized treatments. This plan eliminates the need for claim forms and ensures that you receive quality care from a dedicated dentist. You must select a Healthplex primary dentist, and may only use another dentist if referred by your primary dentist. There is no out-of-pocket expense to you with the Healthplex HMO Plan.
Option 3: Healthplex S200 – Florida
For our members residing in Florida, we offer the Healthplex S200 Dental Plan. This pre-paid plan allows you to choose any participating dental provider, ensuring immediate benefits without waiting periods, deductibles, or claim forms. While you can use any provider, treatment by non-participating dentists is limited to pain relief. With a simple call to customer service, you can access participating dentists and receive the care you need. This plan is similar to the Healthplex plan for members residing in New York and New Jersey. However, since the American Dental Plan is a licensed Florida Dental Plan, it must conform to Florida Insurance Law. Consult the CSA Retiree Welfare Fund Benefits Booklet for specific restrictions.
Option 4: Delta Dental – Deltacare USA Plan 2a
Delta Dental brings you the Deltacare USA Plan 2a, a prepaid dental plan designed to prioritize preventive care. You’ll receive cost-free dental services for preventive treatments like cleanings, x-rays, and exams. Basic restorative services such as fillings are either free or offered at significantly reduced fees, while major restorative services like crowns and bridgework are available to you at 50% or less than the usual and customary charge. Delta Dental has an extensive network of providers across multiple states. The Delta Deltacare plan is a most appropriate choice for members who reside in a geographic area in which there are few or no SIDS participating dentists or Healthplex dentists. The panel of participating dentists is very broad covering the states of Florida, California, New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia. A listing of dentists in your geographic area is available upon request.
Enrollment and Flexibility
You have the freedom to choose the dental plan that suits you best. If you don’t submit an application for enrollment in either of the Healthplex plans or the Deltacare USA Plan 2a, you will automatically be covered by the SIDS plan. However, you have the opportunity to change your dental plan during the annual open enrollment period each October through December, with coverage effective January 1st of the following year. We understand that your needs may change, so you are not locked into any plan for more than a year.
